About Arifa

What Is Arifa?

Arifa is an AI-powered news intelligence platform. It automatically collects publicly available news articles from multiple trusted outlets, then uses AI models to summarize, classify, and surface insights — so you can stay informed without reading every article yourself.

Every AI-generated summary links back to the original article, so you can always verify the source.

How It Works

Arifa monitors 22+ publicly available news sources (East African outlets and global tech & AI publications) throughout the day. When new articles are published, our system:

  1. Collects the article content from publicly accessible pages.
  2. Processes each article through multiple AI models that generate summaries, classify article tone, categorize topics, and identify key people and organizations.
  3. Extracts & maps relationships — AI identifies people, organizations, locations, and concepts from every article, then builds a dynamic knowledge graph showing temporal, causal, and co-occurrence connections between entities and events.
  4. Generates intelligence — story clusters group related coverage across outlets, national signals detect emerging trends, perspective comparisons reveal media framing differences, and daily briefings (with AI audio) summarize the most important developments.
  5. Delivers the results through a web dashboard (with interactive graph explorer), Android early-access app, Telegram bot and Mini App, AI chat interface, and audio briefings. API and MCP integrations are planned for approved professional workflows.

Why Kenya Needs This

Kenya has 30+ news outlets but no AI layer connecting them. Arifa does what no single newsroom can: reads everything, detects patterns, and tells you what matters — in 60 seconds. For the first time, professionals across East Africa can see the full picture without spending hours scanning individual outlets.

AI Transparency

We believe in being transparent about what AI can and cannot do:

  • AI makes mistakes. Summaries may omit important details, misclassify tone, or misidentify entities. Always check the original source for critical information.
  • AI is not editorial judgment. Arifa does not make editorial decisions about what is newsworthy. The platform processes all available articles from monitored sources.
  • AI-generated content is labeled. All summaries, analyses, and chat responses are clearly identified as AI-generated.
  • Your data stays private. Chat conversations and usage data are not used to train third-party AI models.

Independence Statement

Arifa is an independent platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of the news organizations whose publicly available content we analyze. We do not claim ownership of original news content — all articles remain the intellectual property of their respective publishers.

Source Coverage

Arifa currently monitors articles from 22+ sources: East African outlets and global tech & AI publications. Sources are selected based on public availability and editorial breadth. The specific sources monitored are visible to registered users within the product.

Editorial Disclaimer

Arifa is a technology platform, not a news organization. We do not:

  • Create, edit, or curate original news content.
  • Employ journalists or editors.
  • Make editorial judgments about newsworthiness or accuracy of source articles.
  • Endorse or verify the claims made in source articles.
