1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Arifa ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Arifa is an AI-powered platform that aggregates, summarizes, and analyzes publicly available news articles from Kenyan media outlets. Key points about the Service:

Arifa is not a news publisher. We do not create, edit, or endorse the underlying news content.
All summaries, sentiment scores, topic classifications, and other analyses are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors or inaccuracies.
AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional, legal, financial, or medical advice.
Summaries include links to original articles so you can verify information at the source.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
One person may not maintain more than one free account.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Some features require a paid subscription. Pricing is listed on our Pricing page.
Payments are processed securely by Paystack. We do not store your payment card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel at any time from your account settings.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of a charge for refund requests.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Redistribute, republish, or commercially exploit AI-generated summaries without attribution.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service via automated means.
Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or other users' access.
Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.

6. AI Content Disclaimer

Arifa uses artificial intelligence to process news content. You acknowledge that:

AI-generated summaries, analyses, and chat responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, or biased.
Sentiment analysis and topic classification are automated approximations, not editorial judgments.
AI chat responses are generated from news articles and may not reflect the full context of events.
You should verify important information by reading the original source articles.

7. News Aggregation Disclaimer

Arifa aggregates content from publicly available sources. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of the news organizations whose content appears on the platform. All original content remains the intellectual property of the respective publishers.

8. Intellectual Property

The Arifa platform, design, code, and AI models are our intellectual property.
Original news content belongs to the respective publishers.
AI-generated summaries and analyses are derivative works provided under fair use for informational purposes.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, Arifa shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated content.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
